WEEK O4 COMPUTER AND INTERNET

WEEK O4

This week we started with Computer Network which is simply a group of interconnected computers via hardware and software to communicate with each other. The main importance of the network is to share both resources, information and communication. we also know that the major components of a network are the; communication devices, interconnecting devices, computers, networking software and the applications. The following three concepts are subject to computer network functioning; topology, protocol and architecture. We also know that data can be transmitted in  Bandwidth, Analog or Digital signal and Serial or Parallel order of bits.

In session two this week we discussed Communication Channel which is just a link for transmitting data from one computer to another.

The network medium for transmission through computers can be physical cable or wireless.

We also learnt about Digital Communication and we know it has changed radically in today's digital age. Also mention was made about WI-FI.

In the third session we discussed the Types of Network which include; LAN(Local Area Network), MAN (Metropolitan Area Network) and WAN(Wide Area Network).

We also discussed peer-to-peer Networking where all computers are considered equal and has many advantages and disadvantages. We also highlighted on Server-Based Networks where server responds to client requests and also has both its advantages and disadvantages. We wrapped up with highlighting the other types of networks.
